The General Aviation Joint Steering Committee (GAJSC) has determined that a significant number of general aviation accidents could be avoided if pilots were to establish personal minimums for flight in windy conditions.

The FAA Safety Team requests that during future training sessions or presentations to aviation groups that you cover the following teaching points:

*  Discuss the safety benefits of establishing personal wind limitations with the assistance of a CFI
*  Encourage pilots to maintain proficiency through frequent practice in windy conditions
*  Encourage pilots to participate in the WINGS Pilot Proficiency Program

A Personal Minimums powerpoint with notes is available upon request. Thank you for your dedication to aviation safety.
