GRR FSDO FAASTeam Representatives Update
This notice expired on
Friday, September 30, 2016

Greetings Folks,

I hope everyone is doing well and surviving the winter months.  So far we've been blessed with a relatively mild season.  Certainly saves wear and tear on the snow blower and my back!

I would like to thank you all for your contribution to aviation safety and your service as a FAASTeam Representative.  You know the needs and concerns of the pilots in your corner of the world and are best able to assist those pilots.

There are a few housekeeping items that need to be taken care of:

  • TRAINING - Please, please, please, if you have not done so, go online and complete the mandatory, required training on FAASafety.gov!  The course, ALC-297 Representative Training-IT Security, is required to be completed annually.  Some of you have completed it and I thank you for that.  Please log into your FAASafety.gov account and verify your training in the directory.  The course, ALC-270 Representative Training-Representative Manual, is a one time course that was added several years ago.  If you have not yet taken it, please do so.  I would like everyone to have this training completed by the end of February.  Once you have completed the training please send me an e-mail notifying me that it has been done.  Unfortunately, if the training isn't completed, I will have to make some undesirable decisions.
  • WEBINARS - I hope to host several FAASTeam Representative webinars in the near future.  I hate to have you all travel a great distance to the GRR FSDO for an in person, several hour meeting.  Also, our travel funds are not as robust as they once were and it is difficult to get out in the field and meet with you.  Webinars are a tool that we can use to disseminate information in a convenient format.  My plan is to host several evening webinars, one during the day as well as one on a Saturday morning.  The content for each webinar will be the same and, hopefully, at least one of the scheduled offerings will mesh with your schedule.
  • NFRCC - The National FAASTeam Representative Collaboration Center (NFRCC) is a web based SharePoint site that allows you to access FAASTeam approved presentations, documents and information.  We can also upload large file documents and presentations for you to access.  If you are interested in access, please let me know and I will verify your information and get the process started.  Typically, access is granted within a few days.
  • PRESENTATIONS - Anyone willing and able to conduct outreach presentations in your area is always appreciated.  We have material and presentations for the Topic of the Month, Loss of Control and other topics.  Please let me know if I can be of assistance in helping you set up a program.

I think that pretty much covers it for today.  I am always ready to assist or answer your questions.  Please don't hesitate to contact me either by e-mail at samuel.l.heiter@faa.gov or by phone at (574)220-1787.  Thanks again for your dedication and hard work in promoting aviation safety.
