"Runway Incursion Avoidance"
Saturday, January 20, 2018 16:00 Pacific Standard Time

Located at:
AeroDynamic Aviation
2650 Robert Fowler Way

San Jose, CA 95148

Description:

We will start with a summary of overall trends and review the most severe incursions of the past twelve months on a national level. We will then take a more comprehensive look at the less severe (but more numerous) incursions identified here at Reid-Hillview (KRHV). The FAA offers many procedures and checklist items for preventing incursions, which we group into a few broad categories for a quick review. We will then discuss key actions that PICs can take to manage expectation biases, assess airport-specific risks, and maintain situational awareness. To illustrate airport-specific risks and how we can mitigate them, we will take a detailed look at KRHV from the perspective of the tower controllers. Add some useful tools to your procedures and techniques!

Be sure to sign up for the next tower tour while you are at the seminar.
