This interactive meeting is designed to concentrate on “everything inside the fence” that affects airport surface safety. The program will identify problem areas and procedures that have led to surface incidents and incursions at the airport. We will also look at past safety trends and issues that have not shown up this year but could present a safety risk in the future. A local Pilot Examiner, Regional Runway Safety Manager, Air Traffic Controllers and Air Traffic Manager at Reid-Hillview Airport (RHV) Tower will discuss the specific areas that have historically been problem areas or ‘hot spots’ for surface navigation problems.
AWP Regional Runway Safety Program Manager, Joe Santoro, will provide an overview of runway incursions at RHV. Additionally, learn about the new runway safety products including Runway Safety Pilot Simulator and the From the Flight Deck / Know Before You Go runway safety initiative that allows you to gain a pilot’s perspective of taxi operations at many airports before you go.
All pilots, local or itinerant, tenants, and students that operate at Reid-Hillview Airport are welcome and encouraged to attend. The meeting will also focus on aspects of surface safety and the local operating environment.
Pilot airspace deviations continue to be a major risk in the national airspace system. To reduce the chance that you might be involved in an airspace deviation or would like to express your opinion on operations at Reid-Hillview Airport, it is incumbent on you to attend. We will use the feedback you provide at the next Local Runway Safety Action Meeting (LRSAT) to be held the next day at Reid-Hillview Airport. Remember, safe and prudent airmen have superior situational awareness and have a plan to keep it that way.
Our thanks to Trade Winds Aviation for hosting this event and to Reid-Hillview Airport for extending the use of their facility for this meeting.
