The objective of this free seminar is to provide an overview of the steps a pilot needs to cover in transitioning into a new aircraft.
You will learn:
- Examples of different types of transitions
- How to evaluate the new aircraft pilot operating handbook (POH) including performance, systems, and weight and balance considerations
- When additional endorsements, such as complex and high performance, are required and what you need to know for them
Probably every pilot has a favorite airplane to fly. Perhaps it's your favorite because you learned to fly in that type of airplane, or you have flown a lot of hours in that airplane. This workshop encourages you to spread your wings and transition to flying a different airplane. We explore the range of transitions: from moving to a newer model of an airplane with which you're already familiar, to moving to a different model of the same make aircraft, to changing to a completely new make and model of aircraft. You'll learn the items to study and what to expect for the flight portion of your checkout.
We will cover how to evaluate the new aircraft POH, including performance, systems and weight & balance considerations. You will work through an example of an aircraft transition from a Cessna 172 to a Piper Arrow IV to put the knowledge from this seminar into practice.
This seminar is designed for student pilots, VFR, IFR candidates and graduate pilots who are interested in learning how to become familiar with flying a different aircraft. This seminar will be interactive and hands on, so you will gain experience working with a POH to gather the information needed to compare and contrast a familiar aircraft with an unfamiliar aircraft.
The seminar qualifies for the FAA Pilot Proficiency Program, also known as Wings.
