Title:
Eye Tracking - What Are We Looking At?
Topic:
1 Hour HAI Rotor Safety Challenge Session
Date and Time:
Tuesday, January 28, 2020, starting at 15:45 Pacific Standard Time Download Calendar File
Speaker(s):
Colin Gunn
Brief Description:

In the quest for greater automation, modern cockpits are presenting new operational challenges that traditional training methods are not adequately addressing. These challenges include: insufficient knowledge of automation behavior, mode confusion and loss of awareness, poor scanning techniques, and excessive confidence and trust in automation. In March 2019, Toll Helicopters and Seeing Machines commenced a trial of unique eye-tracking technology in the AW139 Full Flight Simulator. We will present the insights into pilot scanning techniques and situational awareness provided by this trial.
