Title:
Monthly Safety Meeting
Topic:
A Brief History of Early Aerial Navigation
Date and Time:
Tuesday, April 9, 2019, starting at 12:00 Central Daylight Time Download Calendar File
Speaker(s):
John McMurray (FAASTeam Rep, retired USAF pilot and Red Baron Aerobatic pilot, now a military sim instructor/CFII/MEII/CFIG)
Brief Description:

Flying from point A to Point B is fairly easy these days with the help of ever more powerful and sophisticated GPS's and other fancy doodads.  However, there was once a time when cross-country flight was a significant challenge mastered by some pretty smart people.  Did you ever wonder how they did it without the use of a GPS or LORAN or even a VOR.  Well then you're in for a treat because John McMurray (FAASTeam Representative, retired U.S. Air Force pilot and Red Baron Aerobatic Team pilot, and current Sheppard AFB simulator instructor/CFII/MEII/CFIG) has developed a presentation entitled "A Brief History of Early Aerial Navigation" where he will cover nav aids and procedures in use prior to the introduction of VOR.  Wings credit will be awarded to attendees.
