Title:
Lancaster Fly-In Drive-In Breakfast
Topic:
A Tale of Two Technologies
Date and Time:
Saturday, March 2, 2019, starting at 10:30 Eastern Standard Time Download Calendar File
Speaker(s):
Jerry Lockenour
Brief Description:

Aerospace Engineer Jerry Lockenour will tell us about two emerging technologies and the safety challenges involved in implementing them in aviation. Electric propulsion is advancing in many areas, including automobiles and aircraft. In aeronautics it is making inroads not only in general aviation airplanes and self-launching gliders—but also in larger aircraft.  Systems are in test for suburban air taxis and full-scale commercial transports.

Jerry also will discuss the state-of-the-art of high-speed flight. There is a reemergence of interest in supersonic biz-jets and commercial transports, as well as in hypersonic (Mach 5 or greater) military applications.
