Title:
2018 Arkansas Loss of Control Accident and Incident Lessons Learned
Topic:
Loss of Control
Date and Time:
Tuesday, March 5, 2019, starting at 12:30 Central Standard Time Download Calendar File
Speaker(s):
Heather Metzler
Brief Description:

The United States has the largest and most diverse GA community in the world, with more than 220,000 active aircraft, including amateur-built aircraft, rotorcraft, balloons, and highly sophisticated turbojets. Inflight loss of control – mainly stalls – accounts for the largest number of GA fatal accidents. Although the fatal accident rate is declining, Fiscal Year 2017, 347 people still died in 209 general aviation fatal accidents.  Source: https://www.faa.gov/news/fact_sheets/news_story.cfm?newsId=21274

This seminar will review the loss of control accidents and incidents that occurred in Arkansas during calendar year 2018.  We will discuss lessons learned from each case study.  As a bonus, we will review the occurrences that had a safe ending in Arkansas, such as in-flight engine failure that a safe landing was made at an airport.
