Title:
NextGen and ADS-B - What does this mean to you?
Topic:
What is NextGen? How can ADS-B benefit you?
Date and Time:
Thursday, December 13, 2018, starting at 18:30 Alaskan Standard Time Download Calendar File
Speaker(s):
Kerry Long, FAA Regional Administrator, Alaska Region and Patrick Barton, Shop Manager, Aircom Avionics, Fairbanks, Alaska
Brief Description:

NextGen encompasses new technologies and airspace procedures and modernizes the National Airspace System to make flying safer and more efficient.  Although this modernization incorporates a variey of new technologies, Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B) is one that benefits all pilots, regardless of where they fly.

ADS-B utilizes satellite rather than radar technology.  Aircraft equipped with an ADS-B Out transmitter send their position, altitude, heading, ground speed, vertical speed, call sign, and identifier to a network of ground stations that relays the information to air traffic control. Aircraft equipped with a receiver for ADS-B In also receive traffic information and can experience several other benefits.

Learn how you can benefit from these innovations!  Kerry Long will provide information on NextGen in language you will understand while Patrick Barton will give you the "ins and outs" of ADS-B.
