This is a 2 hour workshop for the beginning IFR/G1000 pilot
Part II Medford OR to Crescent City CA emphasizing Vertical NAV. Are you working on an instrument rating and training in a G1000? Maybe you are instrument rated and are thinking about flying with a G1000. Or, perhaps you have flown a G1000 for many years and wish to share your insights. A good pilot is always learning and shares their learnings. If you fit into any of these categories or you just want to learn about another system for fun, this workshop is for you.
This workshop will plan an IFR flight from KMFR to KCEC, enter it in a G1000 simulator and fly it focusing on vertical navigation.
Tom will share their knowledge and tips as well as invite the audience to share theirs. The G1000 is a excellent and widely used avionics system in general aviation and there is usually 3 ways to perform each task it does. You will leave this workshop more confident in working with and investigating the G1000.
Tom McGrath retired from Lockheed Martin in 2012 and now consults to the US Gov’t on Missile Defense. He is a private pilot with SEL-I privileges. With approximately 6000 hours flight time, with 4500 in Bonanzas and 1600 in TBM turboprops, he now flies 300-350 hours a year for business and personal purposes. Seeking adventure, Mr. McGrath has flown Bonanzas to Europe, South America, Central America, Caribbean, Bahamas and Alaska. With the TBM, he has flown to Europe 3 times.
