Title:
G1000 for the IFR Pilot
Topic:
A 2 hour workshop for the beginning IFR/G1000 pilot
Date and Time:
Saturday, June 30, 2018, starting at 12:00 Pacific Daylight Time Download Calendar File
Speaker(s):
Tom McGrath and Dave Kramer
Brief Description:

Are you working on an instrument rating and training in a G1000?  Maybe you are instrument rated and are thinking about flying with a G1000. Or, perhaps you have flown a G1000 for many years and wish to share your insights.  A good pilot is always learning and shares their learnings. If you fit into any of these categories or you just want to learn about another system for fun, this workshop is for you.

Our workshop will plan an IFR flight and enter it in a G1000 simulator and fly it. Tom and Dave will share their knowledge and tips as well as invite the audience to share theirs.  The G1000 is a excellent and widely used avionics system in general aviation and there is usually 3 ways to perform each task it does. You will leave this workshop more confident in working with and investigating the G1000.

Tom McGrath retired from Lockheed Martin in 2012 and now consults to the US Gov’t on Missile Defense. He is a private pilot with SEL-I privileges.  With approximately 6000 hours flight time, with 4500 in Bonanzas and 1600 in TBM turboprops, he now flies 300-350 hours a year for business and personal purposes.  Seeking adventure, Mr. McGrath has flown Bonanzas to Europe, South America, Central America, Caribbean, Bahamas and Alaska. With the TBM, he has flown to Europe 3 times.

Dave Kramer MD, an ophthalmologist for 30 years, is an instrument rated, tailwheel, complex and high performance endorsed private pilot as well as a basic and instrument ground instructor with an interest in weather. He has been flying since 2012, has over 1000 hours of which over 400 have been in the IFR system.  He also enjoys long cross country flying, night flying and flying in the LA area.

This event qualifies for FAA Wings credit.
