Brief Description:

This seminar covers the basics of good communication. Communication is identified 38 times in the Human Factors training "the Dirty Dozen" and is often sited as a causal factor in aviation accidents, incidents and pilot deviations. We will discuss communication techniques for preflight planning, radio communications, airport operations and maintenance.

From Phoenix, Take I-10 east toward Tucson. Take exit 164, Queen Creek/AZ Hwy 347 south. Head south approximately 16 miles toward the town of Maricopa. Once in Maricopa, turn left on W. Maricopa Casa Grande Hwy/AZ Hwy 238. In approximately 10 miles, turn left on to Russell Rd. In approximately 1 mile turn left on to W. Bud Rd. The terminal is at the end of Bud Rd.

From Tucson, take !-10 West toward Phoenix. Take exit 186, AZ Hwys 187/387. Turn left toward Casa Grande on AZ Hwy 387, Pinal Ave. Drive south approximately 2.5 miles to Val Vista Rd. Turn right on Val Vista Rd. In approximately 8 miles Val Vista ends at the Maricopa Casa Grande Hwy. Turn right toward Maricopa. In two miles, turn right on to Russell Rd. In approximately 1 mile turn left on to W. Bud Rd. The terminal is at the end of Bud Rd.

If you have questions concerning communication or human factors issues, there are several free courses on that will enhance your undeerstanding of this topic and minimize these factors.

Runway incursions are a major factor in aviation safety.  While many things have been done to reduce the accident rate in General Aviation and the Air Carrier Industry, both sides of the aviation house are still experiencing far too many runway incursions.  This could be the result of "Read back - Hear back" issues, poor airport signage, pilot inattention/knowledge or a combination of factors.  Runway safety is a major concern for all pilots and if you have been around aviation for a long period of time you have probably seen some close calls on the runways and taxiways, or even been involved in some yourself. 

Pilot airspace deviations continue to be a major risk in the national airspace system.  To reduce the chance that you might be involved in an airspace deviation incident, you are highly encouraged to take an on-line learning center course  such as ALC 42, ALC 154, and ALC90 on, or search the learning library for associated guidance on airspace incursions.  Remember, safe and prudent airmen have superior situational awareness and have a plan to keep it that way.
