Bruce Webb's, 'Flying Blind' and 'What's Your Attitude' & Gretchen Bolivar's, Our Area's Nesting Raptors
Date and Time:
Thursday, March 15, 2018, starting at 18:00 Mountain Daylight Time Download Calendar File
Speaker(s):
Bruce Webb, Gretchen Bolivar
Brief Description:

Airbus' Bruce Webb will present both of his new 60 minute projects:

"Flying Blind":  You may have 20/20 vision... but what do you really see?  We will examine the human brain (hardware) and human mind (software) as they relate to our visual system.  Too often we "look" but do not "see."  This can be a function of our "software" and/or "hardware."  In all cases, this blindness must be understood so that we may incorporate techniques to improve our visual performance.

"What's Your Attitude?":  This course will focus on the realities of unintended flight in a degraded visual environment.  We will discuss the limitations of the pilot, the equipment, and current guidance as they pertain to successfully escaping such an encounter.  A case study will help reinforce known concepts and reveal others which may be easily overlooked.

And, Ranger/Naturalists Gretchen Bolivar and Eric Collins will discuss the many nesting raptors on the City of Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks property.  They will talk about the species surrounding us, how many there are, and how we can help them protect them during this critical time (February - July).  Gretchen has been a Ranger for 8 years and Eric for 3 years.  They both work together with other OSMP wildlife staff to close the areas that the raptors need for nesting/roosting.
