Brief Description:

The goal of this seminar is to make the participant feel more comfortable doing real life problems with the analog flight computer.  This seminar will review the theory and basic operation of the analog E6-B type flight computer using real-life problems.  Intended for novice through expert levels, everybody will learn something new!

  • Multiplication/division
  • Conversions
  • Time/Rate/Distance problems
  • Fuel burn problems
  • Wind correction
  • Density altitude
  • Weight and balance
  • Takeoff/landing performance, including using percentages and interpolation

Bring your own E6-B or similar flight computer, although several loaners will be available.  Flight computers will also be available for purchase in the adjacent Wayman Pilot Shop.

Seminar is taught by Frank Goeddeke, the Chief Ground Instructor at Wayman Aviation Academy.  He also teaches research methods and statistics in the graduate program at the Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Worldwide campus.  He has been a CFI for 25 years, is a NAFI Master CFI and Master Ground Instructor, holds a BS and MAS from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, and a PhD from the University of Florida.
