Title:
Weather Strategies
Topic:
Learn to decipher weather and apply it to the dynamic flight environment from preflight to landing.
Date and Time:
Saturday, November 18, 2017, starting at 16:00 Pacific Standard Time Download Calendar File
Speaker(s):
Ray Owen
Brief Description:

Anticipate and respond to weather from five days out to the next five minutes. Understand how to correlate prognostic charts and the new graphical forecasts for aviation with traditional forecast products in a logical, strategic approach to weather and flight planning. Participate in an interactive demo of popular tools for preflight and inflight weather analysis, as well as a review of the old-school capabilities still available with just a radio and a chart. Discuss the differences between the preflight workflow and the inflight workflow, and the markers that indicate a need to revise the plan or divert. Join us as we examine how the military and airlines integrate weather into flight planning, while also taking advantage of the newer, more integrated technologies available to general aviation.

Speaker Ray Owen holds ATP, AGI, and IGI ratings, and a member of the Society of Aviation and Flight Educators and the American Bonanza Society. His pride and joy is a V35B Bonanza based at Reid-Hillview airport in San Jose. His day job is working with early-stage startups developing enterprise technologies.
