Title:
The Aviation Accident Chain Beginning with the Startle Response
Topic:
The Aviation Accident Chain and the Startle Response
Date and Time:
Tuesday, December 12, 2017, starting at 19:00 Eastern Standard Time Download Calendar File
Speaker(s):
Amy Laboda, FAASTeam Member, Larry Denmark, FMFC Vice President
Brief Description:

No one expects to be in an accident, so it's no mystery that a normal pilot's first response to the moment when things go really bad is "What?!" The technical term for that moment is "the startle response," and how quickly and efficiently any pilot recovers from that moment and moves into dealing with the emergency could mean the difference in a good outcome, or a tragic one.
