Topic:

Date and Time:
Saturday, October 28, 2017, starting at 10:00 Mountain Daylight Time Download Calendar File
Speaker(s):
Richard Jeffs
Brief Description:

Loss of control continues to be the leading accident causal factor in fatal general aviation accidents.  There are many reasons why this is so and even more outreach projects to address the problem.  This presentation highlights precursors to GA loss of control accidents as well as pilot response to emergencies and the human startle response to real and perceived threats. Factors that contribute to Loss of Control accidents include; pilot proficiency, Aeronautical Decision Making (ADM), inadequate hazard identification and risk assessment, hazardous operational environments, and human factors.  This presentation focuses on loss of control event precursors that pose no inordinate threat individually but, taken together, nearly cause a disaster.
