In 2005, the general aviation industry has been equipping 90% of all new small airplanes with glass cockpits. You can no longer buy a new Cessna with steam gauges. The benefits of a glass cockpit are not intuitively obvious until you have flown one. Many instructors have said, in real IFR, they prefer the glass cockpit. The electrical systems in these airplanes have been improved and offer tremendous redundancy. The accuracy and reliability of the instruments surpass those of the steam gauge era.
The glass cockpit reduces the workload of the instrument scan and their biggest legacy is the enhanced safety they provide with features such as the large attitude indicator and terrain data bases built in. They allow you to aviate, navigate and communicate from a single display.
Dan Dyer will introduce you to the G1000 glass cockpit displays and familiarize you with it’s operation in this popular seminar.
