Title:
Building a Vans RV12 as a portal for youth into the world of aviation and its principles of safety
Topic:
How San Carlos EAA mobilized to mentor high school students to follow FAA regulations and build a safe airworthy aircraft
Date and Time:
Wednesday, June 21, 2017, starting at 19:00 Pacific Daylight Time Download Calendar File
Speaker(s):
Bill Warner
Brief Description:

EAA Chapter 20 at San Carlos Airport mobilized a team of adult members to mentor high school students to build a Van’s RV-12 Kit Plane.  This is no small task and the work required is often underestimated.  Teamwork on a difficult project is one of the best ways to unite a group and inspire.  Our EAA Chapter wanted to promote aviation to the next generation by camaraderie and a common goal as well as understanding one of the underlying principles of aviation, safety.  The regulations involved with the safe production of an aircraft will be covered.

Facilities, organization, tools, quality & safety, and ownership will be presented in an audience interactive format.

Join Bill Warner of EAA Chapter 20 at San Carlos Airport as he presents this fun and inspirational topic. Bill became motivated to pilot himself after being stuck in airports too many times with delayed and cancelled flights in 1993.  He was 52 at the time.  Since then he has accumulated 2,000 hours in single and multi-engine general aviation planes.
