KNOWING YOUR PHYSICAL LIMITATIONS - “Think[ing] Outside the Shoe [tm]”
- The way people think has a greater impact on their lives than a physical limitation.
- Think about it, flying an airplane is analogous to living life:
- It takes a lot of hard work to learn to get off the ground and a lot of positivity & skills to navigate the storms.
- The same qualities that makes pilots good, are the same ones that can injure us.
- Confidence is good, cockiness is not – but a certain degree of self-confidence and assertiveness is necessary.
- Pilot attitudes & preparation are essential to safety – self awareness & hazardous thinking: accidents only happen to others, taking risks to impress others, being impulsive even when not prepared, deliberately breaking rules intended for safety, Jessica’s most famous accomplishment was learning how to fly – the steps in her journey
- As seen from her and her first flight instructor as they went through the beginning phase of her training.
- Safety issues and how the Ercoupe, built w/o rudder pedals, became her plane of choice.
- She received the Guinness World Record for being the 1st person certified to fly an airplane with only their feet.
- Come share your love for aviation & aviation safety with others who are as passionate about flight as Jessica is.
JESSICA COX – Motivational Speaker, born without arms, Pilot’s License 2010 - Guinness World Record 2011, Inspiration Award for Women - Most Aspirational 2012 USA - Inspiration International 2013 UK, Plane and Pilot Magazine’s >10 Best Pilots 2013, AUTHOR “DISARM YOUR LIMITS 2015, Taekwondo Black Belt 1997, also driver, surfer, & scuba diver.
By attending this seminar, and others like it, you can become part of the FAA Pilot Proficiency Award Program [also known as WINGS] by participating in a recurrent training program. This program was expanded in 2008 and developed for a higher level of safety by employing consistent recurrent training, which has been identified as a major factor in reducing General Aviation [GA] accident rates.
Remember, as part of this seminar program, WINGS is designed to help keep you safe, and by participating and staying WINGS current you may maintain a valid Flight Review. We appreciate your participation in this event.
Do you know your limitations? The seminar will also direct your attention to the Mid Island Personal Limitations Checklist to help teach “situational awareness " through the experiences of other pilots . . . help develop good judgment, . . . . and better understand what's legal vs. what's safe and smart.
