This is a workshop and NOT A LECTURE. Come prepared with a device and the latest version of Foreflight, WingX, FlyQ, or Garmin Pilot.

PARTICIPANTS SHOULD EMAIL THE WORKSHOP POINT OF CONTACT AT av8in4fun@gmail.com WITH THE APPLICATION (FOREFLIGHT, WINGX, FLYQ, or GARMIN PILOT) AND THEIR LEVEL OF PROFICIENCY (NOVICE, INTERMEDIATE, OR ADVANCED) SO THE LEAD FACILITATOR CAN ENSURE THE PROPER FACILITATORS ARE PRESENT.

An electronic flight bag such as Foreflight, WingX, FlyQ, and Garmin Pilot can greatly increase both situational awareness and safety but only if the pilot is proficient in their use. Attempting to learn the application while you are flying the airplane has the exact opposite effect and can be dangerous. This workshop is intended to make you familiar with the application so that it is an aid in the cockpit and not a distraction.

Preflight planning is the first step in a successful and safe flight. Electronic Flight Bags can simplify the process of preflight planning and bring most of the information you need such as runway lengths, fuel required, expected weather, and other vital information to one place. This workshop will teach you how to use the EFB to efficiently plan your intended flights.

Once in the air, situational awareness is the key to the successful completion of the flight. Learn how the EFB can bring traffic and weather into your cockpit and help you avoid midair collisions and inadvertant flight into IMC, one of the most deadly mistakes pilots can make - even those with an instrument rating. In addition, your facilitator will cover overall use of the EFB in all phases of flight.

Runway incursions continue to be a significant problem for the GA community. Come learn how the aviation applications covered in this workshop can help, so you do not become the next runway incursion statistic.

Pilot airspace deviations, including pilots 'busting' TFRs, are another area of concern for the GA community. The aviation applications covered in this workshop can provide a significant increase in situational awareness with respect to airspace. Learn how to make use of these tools to ensure you are complying with airspace requirements.
