Driving:  Exit 101 Freeway at Los Posas, head south on Los Posas. Turn right at traffic light at Pleasant Valley.  Turn right at traffic light at Airport Way. Dept of Airport Building is last building on the left where Airport Way dead ends at Durley.  Flying: A three minute walk from the walk-through gate adjacent to Channel Island Aviation.  Walk out to Durley, turn left on Durley.  The Dept of Airports Building is on your right at the intersection of Durley & Airport Way.

A VC99s Pilot Proficiency Class

Saturday, Mar 25  9:30 - 4:00 (with lunch break)

This 5-hour seminar (with a break for lunch) is an excellent class for instrument students and a good review for pilots with an instrument rating.  This class will review all the phases of instrument flight and the myriad of factors that must be managed as part of any IFR flight.

The class satisfies the ground portion of an Instrument Proficiency Check (IPC).

Bring:

  • Low altitude enroute chart L3-L4,
  • Approach plates (south west),
  • Chart supplement (south west)

            Or your iPad or mobile device with

  • Fully charged battery
  • Portable charger & charging cable
  • Latest version of ForeFlight or other aviation app  installed with data already downloaded since there is no Wi-Fi network available in the classroom.  If you want access to the Internet, you need to use your own data plan or bring or activate a hotspot.

Instructor:  Judy Phelps, CFI, CFII, Master CFI-Aerobatic, a member of the Society of Aviation and Flight Educators (SAFE), 2011 National CFI of the Year, FAA Western Pacific Region 2010 CFI of the Year, Southwest Section Ninety-Nines 2008 Professional Woman Pilot of the Year, 2006 Woman Pilot of the Year, past President Aviation Museum of Santa Paula and former chapter chair of the Ventura County Ninety-Nines. She is Vice President and co-owner of CP Aviation at Santa Paula Airport where she gives fight instruction, tailwheel training, aerobatic training and emergency maneuver training.  She has logged over 9,000 hours and given over 7,500 hours of dual instruction. 

This program is one of a series in the Ventura County 99s 17th Annual Pilot Proficiency Classes, an annual series of 20-25  seminars and programs from February to May. There is a fee for all classes.  Please go to our registration web site at http://www.vc99sclasses.com  and click on the class schedule tab for fee information which appears at the end of the class title.   The FAA does not permit us to include fee information here.  The web site also provides additional information about each class and the instructors.

Some classes fill to capacity quickly. Please register for the seminar at least 24 hours in advance to ensure we have seats for everyone at  http://www.vc99sclasses.com.  We cannot guarantee a seat  to people who do not register in advance.  If seats are available, we will gladly accept payments and registration from walk-ins at the door. 

Unless otherwise indicated on the registration web site http://www.vc99sclasses.com, all classes meet in the upstairs meeting room of the Department of Airports, 555 Airport Way, Camarillo, CA 93010, on the field at KCMA.  There is no wireless network available to attendees in the classroom.  If you want Internet access during a class, you will need to use your own data plan or a hotspot.
