Title:
TFRs and Intercepts-How to Avoid a Fighter Escort
Topic:
SUA; Aviation Security
Speaker(s):
Major Josh “TATER” Boudreaux
Brief Description:
Discussion of Special Use Airspace, current security policies, and intercept procedures with a current USAF fighter pilot.
Major Josh “TATER” Boudreaux is the chief of NORAD’s Operations Standards Branch at NORAD Headquarters in Colorado Springs, CO. He is a senior veteran combat fighter pilot with over 4,000 flying hours in the T-37, T-38, F-16 and multiple civilian aircraft. Prior to arriving at NORAD, Major Boudreaux was the Left Wing Demonstration pilot for the US Air Force’s Aerial Demonstration Squadron, the Thunderbirds. As Thunderbird #2, Josh flew over 72 demonstrations at 36 locations annually and coordinated the airlift of 42 personnel and 22 tons of cargo weekly into airshow sites across the US. Instead of flying inside the TFR for millions of spectators, he now flies with Alert F-16 units around the country protecting nationally sensitive areas like the President’s location and the Super Bowl – not necessarily a place you want to find yourself in the future.
