Good systems and habits create safety in complex operations like flying. Even a simple trip in the local area can have unanticipated and complicated surprises. Are you ready or complacent? Have you prepared and practiced all the possible skills required? Flying is great fun (but accidents are not). Create the habits and procedures to keep yourself and others safe. Teaching flying for 14,000 hours has given this speaker a good background in what can go wrong and how to prevent it in aviation. Please come ready to contribute, share and learn. Featured speaker David St. George is a FAA Designated Pilot Examiner and has flown cross-country in a single engine plane to Alaska and also through the Bahamas to Antigua. He has logged over 14,000 hours flying and currently is a charter pilot in the NYC Metropolitan areal
You may be comfortable flying (too comfortable) when your aircraft is displaced by weather, distraction, or inattention, a pilot may react inappropriately, instead of in a trained fashion and the outcome is often tragic. Much of successful piloting is continuously training to replace instinctive reactions with a correct trained response. Correct knowledge guides this action. Park that pilot ego, bring a notebook and prepare to learn a few things. Experienced CFIs are very welcome… this may give you a few ideas to share with your students. Everyone’s ideas are welcome, let’s learn as a group!
