Glendale Community College, (GCC) and the GCC Aviation & Space Club together with the FAA Safety FAASTeam are pleased to host a presentation by Rod Machado for this year's 2014 GCC Safety Stand Down.  We invite the pilot community to participate in a dynamic, program devoted to Local Safety Issues, LOC, and especially Emergency Flight Procedures.

The attendees may "ONLY" park in Lot C without a parking permit.  If they park in any other lot, they will need to already have a permit for that lot (for example a staff/faculty member who has a staff/faculty permit).  We will not allow attendees to park without permits in any other lot, other than Lot C (levels 1 and 2 of the parking structure).

You’ll hear the latest from your local Flight Standards District Office (FSDO) including, Local Safety Issues, You’ll also learn the history of Safety Stand Down events and how you can participate in exciting continuing education projects for pilots and aviation maintenance technicians.

10:00 a.m. - GCC Aviation Dept. introduces--"Handling In-Flight Emergencies" Pt.1 

There’s a lot to be learned from reading accident reports but it takes some digging and a little special knowledge to understand why mistakes occur and, more importantly how to avoid them or at least make their consequences less severe via exploring the tips and tricks taught by experts so that you don't get caught unprepared.  This fascinating and entertaining look at the interface between the aviation system and the human mind is something no pilot will want to miss!

They will discuss and offer advice on how to hone your skills and sharpen your judgment to get more utility, safety, and fun from your flying. There will be plenty of opportunity to ask questions and participate in the discussion about how GCC since 1929 has advanced the Awareness of Pilot Safety through their Comprehensive Programs. Pilot Training (through Commercial Certification), Airport Operations, and Flight Attendant Degrees are all featured and made easily accessible for the Glendale Community Area.
