Anyone who has encountered ice in the air probably has some hair-raising stories to tell. Ice can form quickly, sometimes unexpectedly, and can have serious (and maybe disastrous) consequences for the safety of the flight and the passengers.
The NASA videos on icing (http://aircrafticing.grc.nasa.gov/resources/products.html) discuss their analysis of icing effects on GA aircraft. However, some of the analysis (tailplane icing) is circumspect. At this CFI Forum, we will discuss the effects of icing on small GA aircraft and what we all need to know about dealing with ice, if encountered. Of course, the best situation would be to avoid ice altogether. However, that's not always possible. Luck (as in aviation knowledge, competency, and proficiency in dealing with ice) favors the prepared mind...(Louis Pasteur).
Come prepared for a very lively discussion and strong differences of opinion. This will be fun!
