YOU MUST REGISTER ONLINE TO ATTEND!
Saturday, March 9th, 2013, starting at 9:00am until 6:00pm, the Orlando FSDO will hold an 8 hour Inspection Authorization refresher course at the FAASTeam National Resource Center (NRC) located on the Sun N Fun grounds at the Lakeland Linder Regional Airport. Early check in will start at 8:00am.
This year will resume a tradition of providing educational outreach to the local aviation maintenance community and will give an opportunity for many to meet with representatives of the Orlando FSDO.
Doors will open in the front office reception area at 8 AM on March 9, 2013 at the FAASTeam National Resource Center (NRC) located at the Lakeland Regional Airport in Lakeland, FL. Please have ready for presentation to personnel from the Orlando FSDO, your mechanic certificate and IA card, IA renewal package, and a U.S. Government issued photo identification. Once verified, you will be requested to sign the attendance roster. Be advised you will be required to sign the roster once in the morning and again after the lunch break.
Seating for this 8 hour IA refresher course is reserved for 175 certificated persons whose fixed base of operations is within the Orlando FSDO geographical area of responsibility, and will be on a first come first served basis. Any person, who is not within the Orlando FSDO geographical area, will be placed on a standby list. If any seats remain, persons on the standby list, in the order that they signed in, will be allowed to attend the refresher course.
NOTE: In accordance with FAA Order 8900.1, volume 5, chapter 5, section 8 (which is the FAA order that guides the job activities of an ASI) if the applicant applies for renewal at an office other than the jurisdictional office, the receiving office should withhold renewal until the jurisdictional FSDO or IFO can verify the applicant’s activities. Therefore, the Orlando FSDO will not renew any applicant who is not within the jurisdiction of the Orlando FSDO, as the Orlando FSDO will not be able to verify the applicant’s activities with the jurisdictional FSDO on a Saturday. Those persons attending from outside the Orlando FSDO area will be provided with a certificate of training that they can submit to their respective FSDO for renewal of their IA certificate.
IA renewal package:
Please have ready for submission at check in, two completed FAA Form 8610-1 applications, two completed Pilot Bill of Rights (PBR) notifications, two copies of your Inspection Authorization activity record, if used, or two copies of the training certificate received for an approved 8-hour refresher course, for the first year. Links to copies of the FAA Form 8610-1, the PBR, and the activity sheet may be downloaded from this event notice or can be found at the Orlando FSDO’s public website.

These documents will be collected and placed in alphabetized folders, and review by an ASI during the 8-hour refresher course. Any application discovered to have a discrepancy, during the review, will be set aside and the person affected will be requested to provide any additional information required, preferably during a break period.
Lunch will be available on site for $5.00 dollars. This will include Pizza and Salad. Tickets can be purchased when you sign in.
Once the 8 hour refresher course is completed, your certificates of training will be issued by FSDO personnel. With certificate in hand, you will be directed to line up in a row corresponding to the first letter of your last name. Once all of your documents have been collected and the information verified, your IA card will be signed and returned by the ASI, to include your mechanic certificate.
Final Note: Although not anticipated, complications from the possible sequestration which is outside of the control of the Orlando FSDO, may cause scheduling conflicts with this event. Any changes to, or cancellation of this event, will be communicated through the FAA Safety Team website, faasafety.gov.
