Survival Smarts: Getting prepared for survival with appropriate planning, strategy, and gear.
Surviving in remote territory is more often a function of survival smarts and appropriate gear, not one's proximity to a town or cell tower! Former Division of Wildlife Officer Bob Caskey will discuss survival strategies for pilots. Details of this discussion include pre-flight survival planning, the basics skills needed to survive an off-airport landing, assembling an appropriate survival kit, and the function and correct operation of your survival gear.
Also included, prior to Bob's talk, will be a quick review of the FAA WINGS Pilot Proficiency Program, the FAA Safety Team web site, and the myriad of aviation safety resources available there.
Thanks to the Commemorative Air Force (CAF) for providing the meeting space, and to Colorado Flight Center for sponsoring this event.
