Additional Event Information & Acknowledgement of Industry Sponsor(s):
The Flight Instructor Refresher Clinic (FIRC) has been developed for flight instructors who wish to renew their flight instructor certificates under Federal Aviation Regulation 14 CFR Part 61, and chief instructors who wish to maintain their qualifications as chief instructor under Federal Aviation Regulation Part 141.

This session is also helpful to pilots preparing for their initial Rotorcraft Flight Instructor Certificate. HAI will issue a graduation certificate to each successful participant at the conclusion of the course, attesting to his or her completion of this FAA-approved program. The graduation certificate may be used as a basis for renewal of the flight instructor certificate provided such application is made within three calendar months from the date of course completion. The certificate is also valid for the one-hour ground school required for the flight review (not the flight) and can be helpful in preparing for an initial CFI rating. It is NOT valid for reinstatement of a certificate.

The principal course instructor is Gary Young, an instructor for Performance Instruction Services.  Young was a test pilot/instructor pilot at the Bell Customer Training Academy for 37 years, and served as the chief flight instructor for the last nine years, retiring in 2004.  He received the HAI Outstanding Flight Instructor of the Year Award in 1989.  The instructor faculty, previously led by Jack Schweibold, test pilot and author of this course, has included aerospace management experts, a flight surgeon, aeronautical engineers, airframe and engine manufacturers, attorneys-at-law, clinical psychologists and/or other medical professionals, and helicopter test pilots. This range of expertise makes the HAI Flight Instructor Refresher Course (FIRC) the most comprehensive in the industry.

There is a charge associated with this course. All course registrations include a complementary day pass to HELI-EXPO 2012. For more information and to register go to http://www.rotor.com/education.

This course is offered at Helicopter Association International's HELI-EXPO 2012, the world's largest helicopter trade show.  The show will take place from February 12-14 in Dallas, Texas at the Dallas Convention Center.  More than 18,000 helicopter industry professionals attend the show from more than 100 countries.  Attendees will explore an exhibit hall within the center's one million square feet of exhibit and meeting space containing more than 65 helicopters and more than 600 exhibitors displaying everything anyone in the Helicopter World would need for success.
