This is intended for informational purposes only and is a way for you to ask questions and get answers to questions like:   What does an Air Traffic controller do?   How can I become and Air traffic controller? 

This tour is not recommended for children under 12 years of age.

General air traffic control overview and behind the scenes look into Southern California TRACON.  Techniques and good operating practice for both pilots and controllers when operating in terminal airspace. There will be time for other topics important to pilots and controllers as well as formal question and answers with a controller that works in the facility.
 
A request for this tour requires a minimum of two weeks advance request for domestic visitor(s) and a thirty day advance request must be made for foreign visitor(s). 

Each tour is limited to twenty people.  Each visitor is required to have either SCT 01 or SCT 02 form approved and on file prior to entering the facility.  
 
ALL visitor’s must submit form SCT01 (primary visitor request) or SCT 02 (additional personnel form)

ALL foreign visitors must also submit FAA form 1600-78 in addition to SCT01/SCT02
Print out each page; fill out requested information, scan and email back to scttours@faa.gov

There will be no exceptions to this minimum notice submission rule.

You will be notified via email or phone the week prior to your visit on approval status.  If you have not been notified within 5 days of your expected tour please call (858) 537-5815.

Fridays Tour Schedule:
1200-1215: Arrival, Seating, Introductions
1215-1345: Welcome and Southern California TRACON Overview
1345-1400: Break
1400-1445: ATC Simulator Lab and control room “catwalk” tour and questions.
1500: End of tour
