With the rapidly increasing cost of flying, particularly aircraft maintenance, what can you as a pilot do to reduce these costs?

The FAA defines preventative maintenance as "…simple or minor preservation operations and the replacement of small standard parts not involving complex assembly operations."

According to the regulations, pilots can accomplish the following:

* External airframe inspection
* Removing cowling and some repairs
* Oil and filter changes & filter inspection
* Safety wiring
* Log entries
* Changing spark plugs
* Replacing pre-fabricated fuel lines and hoses}
* Servicing hydraulics - filling fluid
* Removal and changing of tires and tubes
* Replacing batteries and ELT batteries
* Removing and updating tray mounted radios
* Removing and replacing seats and harnesses

Attend this informative briefing and learn what you can do to reduce the cost of flying. Spend the money on fuel rather than maintaining the aircraft!

Thanks to the Cockpit Cafe and Southern Maine Aviation for sponsoring this seminar.  Delicious refreshments will be available for all attendees.

Park on East ramp if flying in. If driving, take exit 19 and drive 8 miles west to Sanford.  Turn left at the Sunoco into the Terminal building parking lot.
