 “Vintage Nose Art”

Tuesday September 18, 2007 5:45 pm at the Waypoint Café at CMA

On Tuesday evening September 18 please join the Ventura Ninety Nines for their monthly dinner and aviation safety and education program at the Waypoint Café on the field at Camarillo Airport.

Terri Polley and Jerri Bergen will talk about the history of nose art.  Their presentation covers the initiation of nose art on aircraft during WWI, its golden age in WWII, and subsequent decline and rise in Korea, Vietnam, to modern times.  Terri and Jerri will also show samples of vintage nose art as well as custom painted flight jackets for review and discussion.

The sisters, both local to Cable Airport, Upland, CA, have been creating artwork for many years, but only recently have focused on vintage nose art and custom flight jacket artwork services.  Terri and Jerri specialize in re-creating WWI and WWII flight jackets with hand painted nose art images, and custom nose art gift panels.  They have over 100 commissioned projects completed, many of which are viewable on their website at www.victory-girl.com.   Terri and Jerri are busy supporting aviation organizations such as the local wing of the Commemorative Air Force and the American Aviation Historical Society in board and volunteer positions.   Terri and Jerri enjoy the history and stories behind historical nose art, and are pleased to present some of these stories for your enjoyment.

Dinner begins at 5:45 pm and the Terri and Jerri will begin speaking  at 6:30 pm. Please remember to phone your dinner order into the Waypoint if you plan to arrive after 6 pm (805-388-2535) and please remember to pay the Waypoint for your dinner before you leave.   The VC99s are especially grateful to Kathy and Mike Mills and the Waypoint for making the restaurant available to us for our meetings and programs.  Out of respect for the Waypoint, please do not bring take out food to the restaurant.

This program is one of our monthly Tuesday night aviation safety programs and not part of the VC99s Pilot Proficiency Class Series; the VC99s will not ask or accept contributions for this or any of our monthly Tuesday evening aviation safety programs at the Waypoint Café.

Please use on line registration as seating is limited.  Please feel free to invite your pilot friends to join us.
