Topic:
Discussion of How Autopilot, GPS, and ADSB Integrate on the Modern Flight Deck
Date and Time:
Tuesday, September 8, 2026, starting at 17:45 Central Daylight Time Download Calendar File
Speaker(s):
Dustin Kurath
Brief Description:

Have you ever wondered how your auto pilot works so well and how do you do to test.  Then this seminar is for You!

Your speaker Dustin Kurath, Certified Flight Instructor, FAA Safety Representative will lead this discussion. During the presentation we will examine how autopilot, GPS, and ADS-B work together in modern flight operations, with GPS supplying the positional accuracy that drives autopilot navigation and feeds ADS-B's traffic and surveillance data. Through scenario-based discussions—such as GPS degradation during coupled approaches and ADSwill-B outages in congested airspace—attendees will explore real-world failure modes, pilot decision-making, and strategies for maintaining safety and situational awareness when these systems are compromised.

Please bring your questions so we can discuss them so we can all learn from each other.
