This informal roundtable will explore practical and responsible ways to use artificial intelligence in flight training. Participants will discuss how AI can support lesson planning, scenario development, personalized learning, student feedback, and administrative tasks while maintaining instructor oversight and sound aviation judgment. The conversation will also address accuracy, privacy, academic integrity, overreliance, and other potential risks. Attendees are encouraged to share useful tools, successful practices, concerns, and lessons learned.

Brent is a retired U.S. Air Force Colonel, aviation safety leader, and certificated flight instructor with more than 26 years of military service and extensive general aviation experience. He holds Commercial Pilot certificates with multi-engine land and single-engine sea ratings, CFI, CFII, and AGI credentials, and has logged 1,500 flight hours, including over 1,000 hours of dual instruction given. Brent serves as an active FAASTeam Representative, designing safety seminars and scenario-based instrument training focused on aeronautical decision-making, risk management, and regulatory compliance. He also brings enterprise project leadership experience as a PMP, leading complex implementations. Known for combining operational discipline, instruction, and safety culture, Brent helps pilots and teams translate standards into practical, confident performance in high-stakes environments.

This presentation is offered during the 2026 ASCEND Flight Training Summit.
