Dr. Jim Elliott is the FAA Deputy Senior Regional Flight Surgeon. He helps to oversee the medical operations at the nine FAA Regional Offices across the country. Before joining the FAA, he served 24 years in the Air Force, where he was a Chief Flight Surgeon with over 1,000 flying hours in a variety of military aircraft. He is an instrument-rated pilot with 650 hours of pilot-in-command time and owns a Commander 112.
Dr. Elliott is a Fellow of the Aerospace Medical Association, Past President of the Society of Aerospace Medicine Specialists, and President-Elect of the Flying Physicians Association. He has served on the faculty of the US Air Force School of Aerospace Medicine, the Wright State University Residency in Aerospace Medicine, and the University of Central Missouri Professional Pilot Program.
This presentation is offered during the 2026 ASCEND Flight Training Summit.
