Tuesday, September 15, 2026, starting at 19:00 Pacific Daylight Time Download Calendar File
Speaker(s):
Richard Mend - ATP SEL/MEL CFI-AI FAASTeam Representative
Brief Description:

When everything outside the windshield disappears, how prepared are you to handle the unexpected? Instrument flying demands discipline, preparation, and sound judgment—especially when abnormal situations arise. This seminar examines the challenges pilots face when emergencies occur in instrument meteorological conditions and the techniques that can improve the likelihood of a successful outcome.

Topics include equipment failures, vacuum and electrical system malfunctions, communication failures, partial-panel operations, unusual attitudes, weather-related emergencies, missed approaches, lost procedures, fuel considerations, and aeronautical decision making. Through practical scenarios and real-world examples, attendees will explore strategies for maintaining aircraft control, managing workload, and making timely decisions when operating under IFR.
