Brief Description:
As aviators here in South Florida the summer months have a dramatic effect on our flying. South Florida has high temperatures, high humidity, and development of thunderstorms and hurricanes. This discussion will focus on the geographical, oceanic, items that contribute to the development of the low-pressure systems in the North Atlantic which may eventually lead to hurricanes. This discussion will also look at how meteorological pressure systemshave an effect on the paths of these storms.

Thanks to our speaker - Dan Petrovich.
Captain Dan Petrovich is originally from the South Florida area. He learned to fly at Opa Locka Airport in 1977 and has been a CFII-MEL since 1978. Dan retired as a United Airlines Captain in 2022 following a 37-year career. At United he flew the Airbus 320, Boeings 727, 737, 747, 757, 767, 777, and 787. He was also a ground school and simulator instructor on the B-727. He also served as a QC Line Check Airman on the A-320, B-777, and 787 where he trained and evaluated new co-pilots and captains on those aircraft. Dan served as a Designated Pilot Examiner for 6 1/2 years with authorizations for Private, Commercial, and Instrument ratings. He has retiredfrom that role and now teaches meteorology at a local college. He also continues to stay involved as a member of several aviation related groups on both local and national levels.
