Title:
The Schiff Show - Fit to Fly? When Health / Training / and Pride Collide in the Cockpit
Topic:
This Course Examines How Health and Fitness Problems Can Affect a Pilot Long Before They Appear in the Cockpit.
Date and Time:
Thursday, August 13, 2026, starting at 19:00 Central Daylight Time (17:00 PDT; 18:00 MDT; 20:00 EDT; 14:00 HST; 16:00 AKDT; 17:00 Arizona; Friday, August 14, 2026 00:00 GMT)
Speaker(s):
Brian Schiff, Lashae Bacon
Brief Description:

This course uses real accident examples that link fatigue, sleep apnea, high blood pressure, and heart disease to the safety risks pilots can’t afford to ignore. The key takeaway is simple: being fit to fly is part of good aeronautical decision-making.

We’ll talk about warning signs that are easy to miss, like constant fatigue, poor sleep, and changes in how you feel or perform. The course also covers honest self-assessment, open conversations with your AME, and building healthier habits. With Lashae Bacon of Mile High Health Club bringing her aviation and fitness experience to the discussion, the course remains practical, relatable, and focused on what pilots can actually do to be fit for flight.

LASHAE BACON - Guest Presenter

Lashae served 8 years in the Army as a Chief Warrant Officer, flying the AH-64 (Apache) helicopter. Before completing her contract, she became a certified personal trainer and nutrition specialist, driven by a passion for health.  After completing her contract, she moved to South Florida and began working toward a fixed-wing commercial certificate to complement her rotary-wing certificate.

During her civilian flight training, multiple instructors sought health advice.  Recognizing this need across the community, Lashae started her aviation health strategy and education company, Mile High Health Club. MHHC's mission is to provide customized health interventions for aviation companies, improving crew members' safety, performance, and quality of life by reducing barriers through education and resources. To support MHHC's success, she started a graduate program in 2026 to earn her Master's in Public Health.
