Brief Description:
How close has another aircraft come before you ever knew it was there? Mid-air collisions and near mid-air collisions often occur in good weather, during daylight hours, and within a few miles of an airport. This seminar explores practical techniques pilots can use to improve traffic awareness and reduce the risk of an in-flight collision.
Attendees will examine visual scanning methods, collision avoidance strategies, radio communication techniques, traffic pattern operations, ADS-B and electronic traffic displays, right-of-way rules, and the limitations of both pilots and technology. Real-world scenarios and accident case studies will highlight how proper planning, situational awareness, and disciplined cockpit procedures can significantly improve flight safety.

Richard Mend ATP SEL/MEL CFI-AI - FAASTeam Representative - Longtime professional instructor in the LA Basin area with extensive experience at nearly every local airport. Mr. Mend has conducted flight and ground training for all ratings over several decades and also brings valuable aircraft mechanical knowledge to his instruction.
