Title:
Stabilized Approaches Fred Sweet CFII DPE - Monthly Safety Meeting at PWK by CEPA
Topic:
A Good Landing Starts with a Good Approach.
Date and Time:
Wednesday, August 26, 2026, starting at 19:00 Central Daylight Time Download Calendar File
Speaker(s):
Fred Sweet, CFII, DPE
Brief Description:

Let's start with a review of the FAA's definition of a stabilized approach and objective ways to determine that you are stabilized on final. We'll discuss energy states and best practices to ensure approaches are consistently stable. Fred will explain how to determine the safest approach speeds and use them with confidence. And a good approach just might help us with a good landing. We'll review NTSB landing accident data and figure out how we might change our landing techniques. Wouldn't that be sweet?

The purpose of the CEPA Safety Education Program is to promote flying, proficiency, and safety and create a community of pilots willing to share their perspectives, provide recognition, foster communications, promote safety, and build proficiency in instrument flying. Please participate in this excellent forum where we think through the various options from the comfort of your chair, firmly on the ground... before it is you sitting in the cockpit!

We meet monthly when pilots (and would-be pilots) network and share knowledge and experiences to keep our heads in the game.

If you aren't yet a member of CEPA, please consider joining. Your dues help pay for these Safety Seminars.
