Title:
IMC Club Monthly Meeting EAA Chapter 766
Speaker(s):
Dave Rudd IMC Leader, Tony Kolar CFI-I
Brief Description:
Do You know what to do with a jammed elevator Trim?
This seminar is not meant as a lecture but rather an open discussion forum using real world scenarios to increase your level of safety in the IFR environment such as this scenario: Trim Trouble. While in route in IFR conditions with ceilings of 700 to 1,200 feet broken visibility of 3 to 5 miles you experience a mechanical issue – you are unable to control the elevator trim. The elevator requires excessive back pressure to keep the nose up. Within a few minutes you realize you are unable to maintain your assigned altitude, you call ATC and declare an emergency.
To ensure a safe flight your priorities as PIC are to Aviate, Navigate & Communicate. Safe instrument flying is a matter of mitigating risk, personal minimums and standard operating procedures. The Sheboygan Falls (WI) EAA 766 IMC Club provides organized “hangar flying” focused on building proficiency in instrument flying. An instrument rating is not required for attendance.
