Pilots from across the United States gather for the annual Skyhook Fly-In during Memorial Day Weekend. Member chapters of Black Pilots Association Inc. (BPA) arrive from around the country for a weekend filled with aviation, friendship, and spirited flying competition.

Throughout the weekend, pilots participate in a variety of events that highlight both skill and precision in the air. The competitions are designed to challenge flying ability while promoting safe operating practices and good airmanship. Spectators and fellow aviators alike enjoy watching the flying demonstrations and cheering on participants representing their home chapters.

Many of the competitors arrive in aircraft they personally own, maintain, and fly regularly. These airplanes are often the pride and joy of their owners, and the fly-in offers an opportunity to display them among fellow enthusiasts who share a deep appreciation for aviation. The flight line becomes a showcase of well-cared-for aircraft, each with its own story and personality.

Beyond the competitions, the event is also about community. Pilots reconnect with friends, meet new members, and spend time sharing experiences, knowledge, and a passion for flying. The Skyhook Fly-In continues to be a highlight of the year for BPA members, combining the excitement of competition with the camaraderie that makes aviation such a special community.
