Speaker(s):
Raymond Schreiner
Brief Description:

Raymond J. Schreiner (RJ), a former U.S. Marine Corps test pilot and United States Naval Test Pilot School graduate and instructor, will share insights from his aviation career, from flying AH-1 Cobra helicopters to working in the rapidly evolving eVTOL industry. Since transitioning from military service in 2016, he has contributed to advanced aircraft development at companies including Zee Aero, Wisk, Supernal, Pivotal, and Joby. He will discuss safety in experimental flight test programs, the challenges of expanding the flight envelope in new aircraft, and what these developments may mean for the future of general aviation.

A Review of a Test Pilot’s Path to the eVTOL Industry—and What This Might Mean for the General Aviation Industry

The West Valley Flying Club is excited to welcome Raymond ‘RJ’ Schreiner for a review of his aviation career that led to test pilot school the rapidly developing world of electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft.

RJ is a former U.S. Marine Corps test pilot and a graduate of the United States Naval Test Pilot School (USNTPS). He also returned to USNTPS as an instructor. Since transitioning from military service in 2016, he has built a career at the forefront of aviation development and the eVTOL industry, working for companies such as Zee Aero, Wisk, Supernal, Pivotal, and now Joby, contributing to some of the field’s most groundbreaking milestones. RJ is a board member of the Flight Test Safety Committee and owner/operator of an experimental Long EZ airplane.

From the disciplined rigor of flying Cobras for the Marines to the uncharted territory of eVTOL development, RJ will summarize his experience in the fast-growing field of modern aviation and what it might mean for the future of general aviation. He will also touch on how safety is approached in experimental flight test programs and what it takes to expand the flight envelope in new aircraft designs.

Whether you’re curious about developmental flight testing and eVTOLs and how they might reshape general aviation, or simply want to hear from a pilot with unique experience, this is a seminar to mark on your calendar.
