Brief Description:
This session will review fatigue risks in general and those specific to the helicopter air ambulance industry. We’ll review the results of a recent FAA-sponsored field study of helicopter air ambulance pilots across the industry in which fatigue, sleep, and workload data were collected by pilots as they performed their regular work shifts. Schedule types examined include those with seven days on/seven days off as well as pilots who worked primarily daytime shifts, nighttime shifts, or a mix of day and nighttime shifts. We’ll also discuss fatigue data and workload data related to flights.
