Title:
Australia to USA in an SR22
Topic:
Ferry Flight Risk Management and Decision Making
Date and Time:
Thursday, May 7, 2026, starting at 17:30 Pacific Daylight Time Download Calendar File
Speaker(s):
Roman Lewicki & Piotr Dlugiewicz
Brief Description:

Roman (CFI SBA) and Piotr (Imagine Flying) will share their experience ferrying a Cirrus SR22 from Gold Coast, Australia to Jacksonville, Florida — 108 flight hours, 14 legs, 4 continents, and approximately 15 countries in 18 days.

This isn’t just an adventure story. Roman and Piotr will present the trip through the lens of risk management and aeronautical decision making: What does CAPS planning look like over the open ocean? How do you manage fuel when avgas is sold from roadside petrol stations and 55-gallon drums? What happens when a weather diversion means getting stuck for weeks at an airport with no Customs?

From the Bay of Bengal (10.4 hours overwater) to the North Atlantic crossing in immersion suits, from navigating bureaucracy across three continents to the moment Starlink goes dark at a foreign border — this presentation covers everything a GA pilot wouldn’t expect about flying a stock Cirrus halfway around the world.
