Brief Description:

Join local medical professional Dr. Ken Yokosawa and FAASTeam Rep Bill Anderson for an in-depth exploration of aeromedical factors Vestibular Illusion that influence pilot performance and safety.

This presentation will explore key findings from recent GAJSC and FAA studies on aeromedical factors identified in general aviation accident investigations. Although the focus is on Vestibular Illusions, we will first cover the foundational concepts of human information processing, including perception, decision-making, and action. The discussion will highlight how pilots' perceptions of their flight environment can lead to inappropriate control inputs, the role of in-flight illusions in such errors, and the importance of education and training in mitigating these risks.
