Today, we will explore key topics essential for safe gliding, including safe glider operation, aerial towing, and the use of safety equipment. We'll dive into the Windy City Soaring Association (WCSA) operating procedures and emphasize safety on tow, alongside a review of glider accidents to enhance our understanding of risk mitigation. We'll discuss the importance of weight and balance for safety, as well as critical safety considerations in the pattern and during landing. Additionally, we'll highlight the valuable safety resources provided by the Soaring Society of America (SSA) and the Soaring Safety Foundation (SSF) and cover the care and use of emergency parachutes to ensure comprehensive safety in our soaring adventures.
