Title:
Michigan Aviation Safety Forum 2026 OPS Session 6
Topic:
Loss of Thrust in Single-Engne Aircraft
Date and Time:
Saturday, February 7, 2026, starting at 14:00 Eastern Standard Time Download Calendar File
Speaker(s):
Steve Tupper
Brief Description:

Thrust Trust Loss - What Glider Pilots want you to know.

Talking Points:

  1. Glider pilots do this all the time and glider techniques are really helpful when you find yourself flying. . . well . . . a draggy glider.
  2. Make it simple. You have two jobs. Aviate to prevent a loss of control and then execute a standard power-off 180.
  3. There are airspeeds, techniques, and ways of thinking that ASEL pilots don’t learn in training. Here’s the information that fills the gap.

This presentation is planned for one hour.
