Title:
SUN n FUN 2026 Forum - Amphibious Aircraft Safety Systems
Topic:
Looking at gear advisory systems, along with “gotchas” that can create unsafe or unwelcome surprises.
Date and Time:
Wednesday, April 15, 2026, starting at 14:30 Eastern Daylight Time Download Calendar File
Speaker(s):
Amy Gesch, Wipaire
Brief Description:

First know thyself…and then know thy gear advisory system. If you’re interested in or currently flying an amphibious aircraft, this presentation will cover the functionality of different gear advisory systems, along with “gotchas” that can create unsafe or unwelcome surprises. Troubleshooting tools and methods will be reviewed in a scenario-based manner. Pilots who fly several different makes and models of floats or seaplanes, who have switched float makes/models, or who are considering making a change from one make/model of float to another will find this information to be of special interest. Concepts presented will be applicable to a variety of aircraft and float combinations, but will be of particular interest to pilots and owners currently flying Wipline floats, as well as those who are considering transitioning to or away from Wipline floats.
